Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Fayette County Criminal History. Continued use means acceptance. Anyone who does not agree should leave the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated site has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not offer tools for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Fayette County and Iowa record directions are supplied for general reference. This is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no tie to a government office. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve them, perform official checks, or submit documents for visitors.

Its purpose is to route readers to the Fayette County sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Sex Offender Registry, and outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Interfere with the site's operation or another visitor's access
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Enter systems or data without authorization
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Violate a federal, Iowa, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to intimidate, stalk, threaten, harass, or discriminate. Such conduct may be criminal. Iowa law places particular limits on misuse of Iowa Sex Offender Registry data. Registry publication serves community safety awareness, never vigilantism, blacklisting, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produce no credit report, consumer report, or official background check. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service designed to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. You must not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

A regulated background check must come from an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider or the official Iowa channel required for the purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Fayette County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed Iowa attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to specific facts.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is." No promise is made that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges, dismissals, restrictions, and expungements can change a criminal record. Gaps and delays are possible. Site content is never an official statement from an Iowa court, sheriff, or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff pages, courts, Iowa agencies, legal resources, and outside services that we do not control. Their content, availability, prices, and data practices are their responsibility. Review their terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Fayette County Criminal History or its content partners. Written permission is required to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from site use, linked services, or reliance on information found through either.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Iowa law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to site use must be filed in a court located in Iowa, subject to applicable jurisdiction rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version becomes effective when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.
